The viticulture of this area dates back to ancient times, when the Greeks occupying Sicily in around 1800 BC introduced new grape varieties and viticultural techniques to the Italians.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis wine is a blend of native varietals: 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan class=\"field-input-wrapper\"\u003eMaceration took place in concrete tanks with short pumping over. \u003c\/span\u003eThe wine then matured in wooden barrels for 12 months (20% new, 80% used).
