Lanzerac Jonkershoek Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautifully rich and chocolatey South African red from one of Stellenbosch's oldest estates.
Dating back to 1692, Lanzerac Wine Estate is a historic landmark and a symbol of Stellenbosch.
Situated in the picturesque Jonkershoek Valley, on the outskirts of the historic town of Stellenbosch, the Estate offers breathtaking views of dramatic mountain ranges, extensive vineyards, and expansive gardens shaded by towering oak trees.
Cellar Master Wynand Lategan has been in charge of making the Lanzerac range of award-winning wines since 2005. Together with his team the range has been honed to maintain the excellent quality that Lanzerac has become known for. Since 2012 Lanzerac vineyards have been undergoing extensive new vineyard developments, as well as eradicating old (virus-infected) vineyards, with the biggest increase in Pinotage and Chardonnay plantings. These new plantings and vineyard changes will see the quality of the wines continue to increase over the next few years.
Producer's Tasting Notes
This classic Lanzerac Jonkershoek Cabernet Sauvignon boasts enticing flavours of blackberry and youngberry, with subtle hints of cocoa, almond, and cedar. It is a full-bodied wine with excellent balance and a smooth, lingering finish. While it is enjoyable now, it will benefit from an additional 5-8 years of maturation.
