Charles Frey Maceration
Important Information
ⓘ You must be aged 18 or above to buy alcohol in the UK.
Charles Frey Maceration is a natural white maceration wine made using 90% Gewurztraminer and 10% Riesling. It's dry, floral and subtle.
The Charles Frey winery established itself at the beginning of the 18th century and remains family-owned, with the third generation of full-time winemakers now managing the business. They own 14 hectares of vines across five distinct terroirs. The vineyards are biodynamic and began their move towards organic farming in 1997.
The winemakers macerate this wine with an extended 15-day skin contact, which gives it a deeper colour and a rich, spicy aroma. They carry out this process in stainless steel tanks, followed by a 9-month ageing period in 600L barrels. The winemaking process involves natural vinification with minimal addition of sulphites at bottling, creating an unfiltered wine with natural deposit.
