Charles Frey Riesling Granite
Important Information
ⓘ You must be aged 18 or above to buy alcohol in the UK.
Charles Frey Riesling Granite is a beautifully bright Riesling from one of Alsace's finest producers.
Charles Frey was established at the beginning of the 18th century and is still family-owned, with the third generation of full-time winemakers now dedicated to the business. They own 14 hectares of vines across five distinct terroirs in the cool climate French region of Alsace.
Their Riesling Granite comes from vineyards rooted in pure granite soils. These give the wine its trademark mineral streak and finesse. The grapes are hand-harvested before undergoing natural fermentation with wild yeasts, keeping things as pure and expressive as possible. The wine is then aged on fine lees to build texture and complexity, before being bottled with no fining, minimal filtration, and no unnecessary interference.
Bright, fresh, and full of life, this biodynamic Riesling from Alsace is a proper showcase of its granite-rich terroir. Expect a zippy burst of citrus—grapefruit, lime, and lemon zest - balanced by delicate floral notes of honeysuckle and elderflower. A touch of ripe white peach rounds things out before the finish kicks in: saline, mineral, and seriously refreshing. With crisp acidity and a pure, elegant structure, it’s the kind of wine that keeps you coming back for more.
Enjoy Charles Frey Riesling Granite with grilled seabass and fennel salad, or perhaps a plate of oysters.
