Hanewald-Schwerdt Riesling Kalkriff
Important Information
ⓘ You must be aged 18 or above to buy alcohol in the UK.
Hanewald-Schwerdt Riesling Kalkriff is a deliciously fresh and lively German Riesling, made on a family-owned estate founded in 1955.
These grapes come from selected vineyards in Leistadt, all of which have limestone soil (Kalkriff in fact means "limestone cliff" in German). Growers carried out shoot and leaf thinning by hand to reduce the amount of grapes per vine, allowing them to reach more complexity.
The grapes were handpicked and underwent some skin contact before pressing and fermentation with wild yeasts to preserve the wine's individuality and character. It then aged on its lees.
Enjoy Hanewald-Schwerdt Riesling Kalkriff alongside fish, Scandinavian dishes, or curry.
Producer's Tasting Note
The taste of a unique limestone riff. Cool, vibrant and lively dry Riesling. Citrus and stone fruit flavors with herbal, floral nuances and a chalky minerality. Cool but juicy character, vibrant acidity and nice density. Long finish, compact with good structure and potential to age.
