Domaine Benoit Roseau Le Riollement Condrieu 2023 is a beautifully rich and smooth wine from the Rhône's classic white grape varietal: Viognier.
The domaine boasts 40-year-old vines and terraces located in the heart of the Condrieu appellation, in the commune of Verin at the village of Le Riollement. The soils are of poor granite, encouraging vines to compete for growth and resulting in beautifully ripe grapes.
The grapes from this vineyard showcase the magnificent terroirs of the Rhône Valley using manual labour and natural, artisanal winemaking. Foot treading is still used, and aging takes place in old 600-litre demi-muid barrels for that traditional Northern Rhône intensity of flavour and texture.
This wine is, characteristically of Viognier, rich, aromatic and flavourful. The nose displays a generous fruit profile of apricot, lemon and honey. This then carries onto the palate alongside a pleasantly spiced and floral note of hawthorn, angelica, and candied citrus. The ample and dense palate benefits from a beautiful fine grain and a delicate minerality. The finish is smooth and pleasantly lingering.
