Nals Margreid Pinot Grigio 'Hill' is a beautifully fresh and expressive Italian white wine from the beautiful northern region of the country.
Based in Italy's picturesque Adige Valley, this winemaker is a collective operation. Here, 138 different winegrowers bring top quality grapes to the winery from across 160 acres of land, creating wines showcasing the diversity of the region's terroir.
The grapes for this wine grow across a 50-metre-tall hill to the south of Magrè. The terrain is grey clay sand with a high clay content.
The grapes are harvested by hand. Afterwards, the clarified must is fermented for around three weeks in stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the young wine ages on the lees for a further five months. It's drinking beautifully now, but will also improve over the next three to five years.
Enjoy Nals Margreid Pinot Grigio 'Hill' with light, saline fish dishes like whipped salt cod or sardines. It also shines as an aperitif when well chilled.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Pale straw yellow, beautiful depth of colour. Clean notes of dried apricot, pink grapefruit and thyme with a distinct mineral-rich undertone. The palate is close-knit and well-orchestrated, with well-defined supporting acidity and a mineral encore.
