Idun Nuit Éternelle Syrah
Important Information
ⓘ You must be aged 18 or above to buy alcohol in the UK.
Idun Nuit Éternelle Syrah is a complex South African red wine made with grapes from three different premium vineyard sites. The name translates to Eternal Night given to describe its sensuality and beautiful colour.
These Syrah parcels lie around 200 metres above sea level, caressed by the cooling sea breezes from the Atlantic a few kilometres away.
The grapes were hand-harvested, then some were crushed. Meanwhile, others fermented in whole bunches using indigenous yeasts for a bright, energetic flavour profile.
Rainwater soaks into the iron-rich clay and cobble soils which results in low yield and high flavour concentration as well as a touch of minerality.
Due to COVID the wine was matured for longer then usual (16 months) using 30% new French oak barrels.
This wine perfectly bridges the Old and New World styles of Syrah, displaying a savoury bouquet but a simultaneous rich fruitiness.
Enjoy Idun Nuit Éternelle Syrah with wild mushroom risotto, roasted eggplant with pomegranate molasses, lamb tagine or grilled venison.
